He picked away at his leftover danish as she joined the other women at their table by the door. The Cup-A-Cabana wasn’t overly busy at that hour, and with his regular training in the skill of eavesdropping, he heard a few words here and there. Motorcycle. Second date. Leather. And then their conversation devolved into a giggle-infused discussion on bondage.

Shuddering, he set his laptop in front of him again. She said nothing about late-evening strolls or almost-kisses.

He could have just as easily brought up the phantom kiss while she sat at his table, but he’d chosen instead to regale her with cheesy names he’d thought way too hard about for a business she didn’t own yet.

Too late now. He’d have to wait this one out. Let her give Harley Davidson another shot and hope the guy screwed up enough that she’d ditch him like the others. Like him.

Maybe he wasn’t trying hard enough with Addie. Ironic, since he was trying harder than he ever had before. But she was probably used to guys who flirted shamelessly, leaving absolutely no question as to what they wanted and when. The whole flirting thing never came naturally to him, being an introvert, but he wanted her badly enough to do whatever it took.

He’d caught Addie checking him out the other night. It was nice to know she appreciated his physique, because he sure appreciated hers, and her many, many assets. From the pixie haircut, to the doe eyes, to the legs that went on forever. Don’t even get him started on that tea leaf tatt behind her ear. Every time he saw it, he wanted to lick it. One day. He’d lick and suck every inch of her.

He’d told her to give these guys she was dating a chance. He’d challenged her to try to make one last longer than an average sitcom time slot. So she took a chance on Harley Davidson, and they’d passed drama-length and were moving on to mini-series. She’d done what he dared her to do. But why couldn’t she give him another chance?
